my circles are together and nearly ready to quilt, thought those of you who have been interested may like a sneak peak. I need to add the borders and then get busy with the quilting, but i needed to see it from a distance so hung it on the line today.
though i say it myself, these photos don't really do it justice, there is a little way to go before it is finished, but i have so enjoyed all the handpiecing and fussy cutting and the play with colour!
on a recent trip to hobart a friend bought this needle felted bird called 'celia'. how lovely is she? purchased from one of the galleries in salamanca place, she now has a new home in melbourne. if you are ever visiting hobart, tasmania, it is really worth a stroll along this row of very interesting gallery type shops, lots of good quality hand crafted items to look at.
christmas is also coming, a little bird told me, the new shepherds bush stocking for 2008 is for a girl, 'anna' is very beautiful with the chart, specialty threads and charms all available.
while all these other things are happening, there is also been alot of stitching going on. there is a special charity day coming up for motor neurone disease and one of the ideas for making some much needed funds is to have donated cushions for sale. these are some donated by friends and ' my girls who all wore their red shoes ' for the day out. tickets for the day on Thursday, December 4th are essential, drop me an email if you are interested in the details. the cost per person is $30.

many years ago my uncle took home with him some seeds from the ash trees that grew strong and tall in our surburban garden in brighton east pictured below
oh i don't know why that went sideways, but you can see they were very big trees. the seeds were planted at the farm i spoke of in my last post and they look like this.
these are just some other views from our stroll around the place! some country artworks or bits that are left to the elements that become part of the landscape. is it an australian thing or does it happen everywhere?
can you see the person in this photo, feet firmly planted, arms by his side and hat on his head and off to work on his workbench? it is actually the back view of this, an old wood heater that kept the farm house warm many years ago.

this was a happy time spent with another cousin on his farm. it has been sometime since i have seen him, lots of catching up done and so much interest in the work he does. an artist at work on the farm and beyond! a walk round the property was a good way to have a chat.
it must be in the genes of our family to have alot of 'stuff ' and marcus is no exception, but he has alot of very useful, very clever stuff and makes some beautiful things !

for those of you in tasmania, marcus is having an exhibition of his work at meadowbrook winery in january 2009 and some of his work is available from the galleries at salamanca and richmond.

not the most flattering picture of my back view ( if only i could do more walking ) i am sure the wind must have been in my jacket making me look like this!!!!!!
back to the farm house for a nice cup of tea.
