lovely lynne, my cousin who lives just out of devonport had us to visit for afternoon tea. she has a wonderful view of bass strait and the mouth of the mersey river
and then a lovely show of communing with nature with a wren family who lives just locally. they were darting round on this lawn, one male blue wren and his bevy of beauties. lynne opens the doors and calls them and then with tiny bits of grated cheese she feeds them on the kitchen window sill. it was amazing to see them fly to the window with such great antipation !
they were so beautiful to watch, took lots of photos ! one of the young ones was developing blue feathers in his tail, so dad will have at least one other male in the family. they have been coming for years, so lovely !
lynne also has a walnut tree, a different variety to maree's, the nuts were a different shape altogether, much rounder
back at maree's we played in the fabric room
and in the maid's room there was a pile of quilts to choose from to put on my bed, i liked this one
after a few days in devonport we travelled to hobart to join the cousins down there again. this meant maree had to take rocco to the boarding kennel for just one night ! poor rocco was not a happy sight ! i think he would have been very happy to come with us to a very friendly dog happy home. maybe next time rocco !
we stopped at the 'conservatory' at sassafras on the way for a coffee and a muffin, another lovely spot to pause ! back in the car to deloraine, another stop at 'the black hen' a lovely shop and workspace ! something to be very aware of though when travelling to tasmania is a very 'quaint' idea they have ! if business people feel like having a day of or a few days or a week off, they do, and just pop up a notice on the door saying 'sorry, closed .............'. as i said quaint and i quite like it, but if you are only going to be in place passing through it can be difficult. good idea to check sometimes ................
on arrival and after a nice cup of tea, we headed to 'the fish bar' at bellerive, just near the cricket/football ground for fish and chips for tea! best fish and chips ever i think, well i only ever have them when i go there !!!
visitors at the back door one afternoon were zac and prissy, wiping their feet on the double mat as you can see
smiling for the camera
zac and prissy are miniature horses, but chloe who is just a very busy little dog, lets them know that they won't be taking over the spot on mums knee when she sits down on the couch !!!
rewarded with an apple, both of them, no favours, each get a apple and a hug from my cousin paula !
take us take us, can we come !!!!! we know you have some apples you're taking home with you barbie !!!!!
then the next day they were allowed in to mow (and fertilise) the back lawn ! such happy little horses so much loved by paula
and this is dear old lucy who just loves to have a day in bed quite frequently ! she is a gorgeous old girl, one of the dogs in my life that i love to bits !
after some days together just chatting and sewing some nighties for me (there will be no photos of me modelling) and visiting my dear friends deb, rob and roly, it was time to pack up and fly home ! just a short visit, but a lovely one !
