it's a question i often get asked, i would love to find a couple more days in each week that no else knows about !
so fortunate to be able to keep busy playing with the things i love, soaking in the pleasure that fabric and threads and ideas all bring to my mind and enjoying the solitude of the moments, simple pleasures !
so many friends bring me flowers and things of such beauty and interest, share with me some of them over the last month since i wrote the last post, where did that time go ?
these tiny wild orchids and natures details
the first two rose buds of spring in my garden
i'm playing with my sewing friends in an experiment, cutting out, all ready to sew up again, 8' finished hexagon shapes, they will all finish up with a quilt top from my fabric cupboard. i've had the collection of templates to make many many different patterns in my possession for many many years, so its good to be using them. i'm cutting the blocks as i see my friends and the colours they use, being safe with some, others i'm teasing a bit and just going for it with others who are brave ! so far it's good and the results are interesting and the anticipation of the next pack for each one is fun ! i'll post some throughout this rambling today just to record the process.
different friends, different colours !
embroidery too, love all the texture that linen and threads make ! this is a new pattern from 'mrs sew & so' and as soon as i have my replacement printer delivered and installed i will be loading three new patterns as well as others to my etsy store !
wonderful texture !
more hexagon shapes
remember, i'm seeing my friends in colour !
this is another textural view of another new pattern from gail bett 'mrs sew & so"
these roses from anna's garden were just so beautiful and filled the room with their wonderful fragrance ! i was so sad when they had to be thrown out
once again some stitched texture
carolyn and tracey came to visit last friday and this lovely soft version of jenny kingwell's 'the circle game' was some show and tell. tracey has chosen a wonderful soft pallet of colours for her circles and although the available light on the day was doing funny things with my camera, it is just beautiful !
and some of simone's so far, it was she who started this whole process off !
and marg, margaret sampson george is coming mid november for another workshop weekend, so i've been playing with this again, making some progress ! lots to organise in the next couple of weeks !
monday in melbourne yesterday was a very grey day !
tuesday is delightful, blue skies and a gentle breeze, a perfect spring day !
today's date was my dad's birthday way back in 1909, he is not here now, but i have been thinking of his life and mine as a result and remembering the very special years in his twilight time that we spent together. i was fortunate to be able and have the skills required to look after him at home till his death. lots of mixed emotions during that time, but i would not have done it any other way. thinking of you dear maxie, he was a gentle man and a gentleman !
so a good part of this day has now gone, the physio has been and i have chatted on the phone about things in the making and organising dates ! time flies when you are busy !
