delicious pears are in season, love to eat them and love them as a decoration and in this picture, loved the shadows on the wall
the last weekend in july was time for another marg sampson george workshop and so the house was full of eager participants, as well as good friends, with marg and jean staying from interstate and bronwyn visiting also, happy times were had
a tin full of bits prepared 'take an element' is the theme and marg explained her approach to buying and sorting and storing fabric, all very interesting
'margagons' and 'pentamargs' are just two of marg's 'elements' here in this tin
this is another collection of my bits, getting them ready to applique to my background
and my 'cross lizzies' another element that marg can use, she has my permission, her inspiration was also mine !
i called this post 'home happenings' and this was just another seasonal delight, lovely homegrown citrus added colour and stored here in this large glass vase, looked decorative also
and an early sign of spring, these rununculus on the window sill, love them !
and bronwyn bought me these, their name escapes me at the moment, but aren't the colours amazing !
and by now you know my love of pears and the pear shape, these beauties made from old print by a young man in queensland, just love them and their addition to my home
there were some gorgeous choices of fabrics and combinations being made and getting approval by marg
new beginnings for many attending the weekend workshop
above is a new 'pentamarg' being prepared
some whirligig blades have been cut, and below some have been stitched up
and just when you think you have finished, that's what simone thought, marg finds a spot to fill, why have a space ?
and so a couple of 'pentamargs' fill the space
and lavina too is almost finished, the addition of some 'cross lizzies' and some dots and a heart here and there and this will be ready for quilting. the first question often asked, which i find curious, is 'how long did it take you' ? lavina started two years ago, this is all hand stitched and pieced and i might say alot of other projects have been started and finished also by her in this same period of time.
there are more photos to show, i think you need a break and so do i, but i will be back in a few days. thanks denice for your email re my lack of posts as often as i used to do, and sorry that you have not been able to make a comment, i can't explain why that should be, but i do really appreciate yours and others feedback. when i sit and write these musings i don't think about all the far reaching places and homes that these posts go to. thanks to you all that read and enjoy !
