noah took some roses

recently, when i was staying with my cousins, i noticed this view from the windows of the kitchen and thought how special that these roses were flowering so perfectly on and around mothers day and so took this photo.

 

and then in this magazine, i loved these rooms in this little english cottage and once again i loved the roses. I have always been drawn to that 'chinz rose look', in fact in my 'dreams', i want to live in a house decorated like this. i like the all in together, cosy rosie look!

 

 

 

and then just to show off the finished, with binding and ready to put on the bed or over the chair look of this old favorite (thanks to those of you who made comments about it) in the last post, my candied hexagons quilt, which is such fun to do, i may do another one day.

 

 

and now onto the next one, oh yes there are others waiting to be quilted. while i have the quilting 'bug' i will keep going till i become distracted.

 

sort it out sort of week

i always seem to be looking for things that i know i have and not getting very far in finding them! so, i decided to make a difference to my life and sort a few things out. lots of stuff, lots of stuff, so instead of all my smaller pieces of fabric being in bags, they are now sorted and in colour ways and lined up in the cupboard. it has to make that looking much easier, there are lots of shelves!

 

and i have 'FINISHED' quilting this!!!!! i so enjoyed the process of all the fussy cutting and hand piecing, but as i have said before i don't enjoy the quilting. BUT IT IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!

whats been happening

alot has happened over the last three weeks it seems to me, i have travelled, again, to my homes away from home, seen good friends and spent some very happy time with them and been with members of my family, always a good time with them.

some views and comments of those few weeks follow.

 

 

 

all these were taken at the 70th birthday celebration of my eldest cousin, brian,on my mother's side of the family.oh, what stories they can all tell and it was an old fashioned afternoon tea with singing round the pianola. it was lovely to part of it and we certainly had some laughs.

 

delicious soup and banana bread were served for lunch on this day with a 'new' friend, thankyou, we have some shared some special times over the last couple of years.

 

this was sunset on just one of all the beautiful autumn days spent while in hobart in early may. the photo is taken from my cousin's home, a view of just one of the hills from the glass wall that looks over this scene.

 

they talk about blue hills, this was mt. wellington in a 'blue mood' on another lovely day.

 

 

we also went to this beautiful beach, kingston beach, just out of hobart. this is where my grandparents brought up their family, six girls and two boys, running the general store with just the street separating it from the sand and the rolling waves! my mum was always so happy to be in a place, wherever it may be, with sand and waves and a view such as this. i think it is part of our genes!
