i am down here in hobart in a slightly different role this time, house sitting for a friend and the family dog 'jack'. he is a dear old boy, aged 16 and quite happy to 'just be', so we get on very well, because i am also happy to 'be just' doing the same and having a holiday and doing what i like, when i like! however jack decided to spice things up a bit last week, just after i had sent the family away assuring them that we, particularly jack, would be fine. he developed a sore eye, well it was a bit sticky and gooey, you know the sort of thing. very used to caring for humans, i applied the same care to jack and bathed his eye for a couple of days, but last wednesday i decided a call to the vet would be a good idea, the long weekend and all approaching. jack was not really troubled by all this, it was me taking precaution! the diagnosis from the vet was made and we had to present back at 9am on the thursday morning, after discussion with jack's mum and dad and me and the vet! his eye had to be removed, and so it was and he has been such a good patient and is a very happy dog. he has been with me visiting the family and is thoroughly enjoying being spoilt and life generally.
why is it that things like this always happen when you are in charge of other people's loved ones or property etc. it just happens, i promise i did not poke him in the eye with a big stick!
these photos were taken on friday and now on monday you would hardly know and he is a very happy and contented dog, sitting at my feet snoring his head off. good boy jacky!!!!!!
