cosie rosie

i have to admit to being a 'magazineaholic', not as bad as i was, but i do love some that i just can't do without. I have had a subscrption to 'marie claire idees' for years and so have a pile of those and also 'country living' (british edition), i never tire of them. so the june 2009 edition is very gorgeous, featuring the 'cosie rosie' look that i love so much.

  

 

 

 

 

there are many other lovely articles in this month's edition, but i really enjoyed the roses. i made a rosie quilt, handpieced and fussy cut hexagons some years ago, it was machine quilted.

 

 

 

my roses, set in pale, what i call slightly 'off' colours and then set in white with a mixed border and striped binding.

 

the hexagons are all different and quite large

now on to other things, i am stitching at the moment, some cross stitch

 

and quilting this, the circles quilt, lots of fun

super sunday sewing

as a group, we gathered today and started sewing about 11am, lots of different projects, new ones and some nearly complete. we stopped for lunch and about 4.30pm there was a sudden flurry! better get home! what a happy day we had all had, lots of chat, show and tell from those who had attended the 'craft and quilt show', lots of laughs and lots of sharing of ideas and things, solving problems ( both personal and sewing ones) and just having a good time allround. you know the sort of day! and a sign of spring! here's our day in pictures.

this was my sunday

it's a 'pear' thing

my last post told you about and showed you the lovely surprise i got in the mail from jean at linen and raspberry and it seems we have a mutual love of 'pears' in things. yesterday i noticed that just in one room i have quite a few pear things, so the day started off for me having this for sunday brunch!

I also went and purchased the pattern from heather bailey. see all this 'pear love' cost me money ultimately! I have been going to get it for ages, jean just spurred me on.

what a lovely thought

i've done the washing and the cleaning and the other chores that are traditionally thought of as monday things and then the parcel postman made a call to me. what a lovely surprise for me! i have always loved pears and there shape and on this lovely blog a little while ago, i noticed jean had some of this fabric in a quilt she was making, so I left a comment saying how I loved it etc.etc. Jean said she had bought it some time ago but had a scrap that she would happily send me. this came with it this morning, how lucky and what a lovely thought! thankyou so much!

   

and while i have been watching the tennis late into the wee small hours i have been quilting this. ( they both deserved to win )

 

and the squares that i was putting together in hobart recently have now got borders and are also ready for quilting. this was all put together from bits of the of the all too many pieces of fabric we all have in our cupboards.

 

i had to be ready for the 'tour de france' and the 'ashes'.

well i am happy and content with my new look, i have tried hard enough over these past few weeks to get a heading, banner or 'make it look a bit more official look' about my blog and today i am finished, i got there with perserverence and persistence and alot of fiddling, which got me in the position in the first place! i have gone full circle!

oh, talking of circles, i have been doing other things, alot of other things! i am about to start quilting my circle quilt, show you later! one day when i was on house sitting duties, no it was not a duty, it was a pleasure, I noticed lots of circles, think of all the things that are round????? here are some photos i took.

hobart cottage

I know this area of hobart very well and some friends, deb and rob, have today taken this business over and i can highly reccomend that this little cottage would be worth consideration if you are planning a visit to tasmania. it is very close to the cbd and many tourist attractions and some lovely shops that i visit when down that way.

 

the back garden is just delightful and there is off street parking for those with a car.

 

and there are two sitting rooms! uhmmm! might be a good place for a few days stitching sometime??????

i have inside information and i know there will be a few changes to make this little cottage, with its most beautiful roses, even more comfy to spend a few days. i will keep you posted, but also check the website from time to time.
