spring signs

today was such a lovely sunny, almost spring day here in melbourne, so nice to see and feel.

these little violets from my garden, you could smell the perfume in the air when i was outside this morning, so i picked a few !

 and i have been playing with these big bloom fabrics

playing with the colours, spring must be on my mind

and thanks for your reaction to 'dancing dollies', many of you can expect them in the post in the next few days

a new month again tomorrow, august is here !

rosy cheeks

a sunny day in my city today ! it was late coming in my suburb, but it did come and i went out and tidied up in the front garden, raked some leaves and moved some pots ! now you may not think that is too remarkable, but it was me doing it, my new 'stability' with my new orthotics was giving me some rosy cheeks !!! very happy to be able to do it !

gathering some pretty fabrics and threads, keep looking for more information, i will be back

i was also so pleased to see that valentina had posted about her 'camelot' quilt, she has finished the circles of her quilt top

valentina lives in cypress and she has taken a photo inside, then taken 'camelot' to the beach, out in the fresh air, she has also been very ill and been in hospital after getting a nasty reaction to some medication. go over and give her a get well soon message !

hello dolly !

just a tease, i will show you a bit more each post over a few days !

sometimes it is just good to do something different, so the other night i got into the cupboards and found the appropiate glue and made this now sitting on my table. yes it is all stuck together forever, i hope !

the plate at the bottom was my mothers and also the next one, many a pavlova has been cooked on it and the blue and white chinese bowls, we all have heaps of those, a couple of odd white bits and the small sugar bowl on the top, the lid still comes off it !

how will i use it, i was asked ? in various ways, i will show you !

and in my cousin's home in hobart where these two dearly loved dogs live

sorry the photo is dark, chloe and lucy both like to be with you if possible and never is paula happier than when she is nursing one or the other or both ! so when i found this bit of fabric at amitie i had to buy some to make a bag 

it is so very cute !

sunshine and blue skies

as reported in my last post i have just spent 3 weeks in hobart, tasmania and it was all sunshine and blue skies down there for most of my stay. yes, there was some rain and some snow on mount wellington, but we were warm and cosy, both indoors and out.

this is the view from the local supermarket carpark, 'hill street' at lauderdale, a great view taken for granted by the locals i guess, but i love popping down there to get the staples and some treats !

paula's half square triangle quilt top is almost finished, all been hand pieced and made from bits in a colour way and some pattern introduced

there is a bird or two or three included

we also visited the new gallery in hobart, 'mona', which is a wonderful space and well worth a visit to just see the building, apart from the exhibits

you enter across this tennis court, through this mirrored wall

our first stop was for a coffee

quite an art form in themselves these days

or a little tipple if you want it also and you can take a seat here to watch the passing parade

note the towering sand stone walls, mona is built into the side of a hill on the banks of the derwent river

pull these drawers out and there are different voices saying 'i love you' and each telling a different story, interesting !

there are some weird and wonderful artworks and exhibits here, but a wonderful space to hold such exhibitions and performances, well worth a look

i always like to reacquaint myself with 'mr pickwick', he was the lid of a teapot we once had in the family and lived with us for many, many years. his pot has gone now ( that's another story ) but his dear face is now residing in hobart with my cousin paula !

i always have a little conversation with him and some tea !

now i am home, have to get on with the stitching, i have been doing some !
