i was so pleased to receive my copy of this magazine with a very australian content with articles about people we know and places we visit, must be exciting for those who got a mention, congratulations to you all. i suggest if you don't have a copy, it is well worth seeking one out.

i have a guest in my own home to give a class in boutis, marie christine flocard is visiting australia at the moment and will be here tomorrow, along with gail bett. i have been busy preparing kits for the classes, so all is ready for action, i will show you some pictures of the happenings later

thanks to all those who have made contact with me about the leg ! i have answered you all personally, i mentioned it because i did not want you to think i was just a spoilt brat with the rose pruning and all the help i have been getting from neighbours and friends, their thoughts are all so special, thankyou, thankyou, thankyou !

 

 

 

coming up roses !

it has been busy at my place !

take a look with me at the last week or so !

i have had a gardening angel visiting, popping in without notice, pruning the roses !

this angel is known to me, a woman on a mission, i have a little problem at the moment and she has helped along with the neighbours to freshen the look of the garden and clear away the cuttings

she arrived with her own clippers and bags and would get busy working without me even knowing she was working so hard. these are very old bush roses and needed a really good cut back, thanks so much, some of you will know this angel !

 at sewing last thursday, marlene had a new piece taking shape rapidly, a new colour way is happening in her home and of course this includes some more quilts

and we were stitching, chatting and looking at this book

we love watching this 'gourmet farmer', current series on sbs at the moment here in australia. the 'anzac biscuits' are not from the book but were on the table and delicious, marjorie had made them that morning before doing many other things and all before joining us, she is oldest member of this group by many years and she makes all of 'us youngsters' feel exhausted by all that she does ! 

it is a good book and also has some lovely personal quotations from matthew evans

i had completed another 'camelot' circle

another friend completing this small cross stitch alphabet sampler

and another was building houses with a kaffe kit

i am certainly not building houses at the moment, the problem i mentioned at the beginning, is a broken right leg, no story to tell, just another sideline to having very flat feet, lucky me ! but it will get better !

quilts in the barn 2011

it was another lovely sunny day here in melbourne, so off we went to 'quilts in the barn' !

jo morton and her quilts was the quilt artist featured, here is my view . . . . . . . not many more words, just photos !

the tables and chairs were busy with people enjoying the sun and the atmosphere along with a nice cup of tea and something to eat

this is the raffle quilt, made by many contributors, maybe i will get the phone call to say i am the winner !?

then we did some shopping with the quilted crow girls, my camera had a peek into our bags, three bags full and then we met another friend and she also had been shopping !

very tonal !

and it was time to go home, i would have loved to take this with me, but no, i left it for those who will enjoy this basket tomorrow

now it's time for me to go to bed !

oh that feeling !

it has been so beautiful and gorgeous, the sun is shining and the skies so blue and all is calm and the gardens are all returning to colour and lots of things in bud. life is good !

this is some of the colour i am talking about, the flower of a nasturtium ! and i love their form, the shape of the flowers and of course the leaves !

i have done another circle, 'camelot' the second time around !

 

quilts in the barn is on this weekend, started today, and what a perfect day for it !

if you can possibly get there, you are supporting such a great cause, all monies raised are donated to research into a cure for breast cancer and we all know someone who has been down that road. linda and her family and friends put so much effort into making this annual event such a good one and this year leonie and deidre from the quilted crow in hobart, tasmania are showing their wares and they have some lovely bits.

recently meredithe from pomegranate and chintz got an award from someone and a part of that is that you have to hand it on, and she chose me as one of those 'lucky ones'. you are supposed to tell 7 things about yourself ! well only because meredithe is such a lovely person and i do enjoy reading her blog, she takes you on so many lovely 'outings' of places she has been and things she and her friends have seen and shares so much of interest, i will tell 7 things, but won't pass it on to other bloggers if you don't mind !

so what will i tell you ?

1. i am content and always able to amuse myself.

2. i love comfort and joy, family and friends. i really appreciate whatever others do for me.

3. i love inspiration from fabric and threads and ribbons and wool and patterns.

4. i love paper and cards and thought provoking messages and sayings and words and little books and writing and good pens and pencils.

5. i enjoy watching television and love the reality shows, talent quests and football in the winter and cricket in the summer, but it is also my sewing time. i love water views.

6. never go to the movies as i always go to sleep, always have done, even back in the 'boyfriend' days ! enjoy live theatre ! and music !

7. i have many projects started, they all get a turn and i finish some, others probably will never get finished but are part of who i am !
