in the middle of april i flew to hobart and to my rural cousins for some babysitting, big babies, but need to be looked after, and so while some grandparents took a holiday i moved in and probably caused havoc !
now it's the middle of may, and i'm back !
i did a bit of stitching of my hexagon project between taking to the school bus and picking up time, my word those hours go quickly and as i am not really a morning person, 3.15pm really came round too fast !
i needed something to gather my little hexagons in and so one of the 'babies' gave me this little tin, how appropriate, english paper piecing !
some fussy cutting too
but i also enjoyed some of the well known scenery that i see each day from this family home that i visit
this was sunset each night from the kitchen window
there were a couple of days when we had some rain to fill the tanks and the mist was down round the surrounding hills
this is just at the bus stop, loved these bright orange rosehips on the fence
just old wild roses that grow there
and there was no need to cook any cakes during my stay, this came home from the cooking class at school
enjoy travelling these roads after all the traffic of a big city
and heading for the hills each day after meeting the school bus on the highway
blue skies and warm sunshine and my shadow in the afternoon
and building little shapes with hexagons
visiting my dear friend deb, and geraldine and my cousins too, here we had a day together, some sewing and some playing with paper and felt
and look at this little face, roly was getting a hug from us all
or just resting and waiting for the ball to be thrown again, he is very cute !
and i was staying here at christmas time, but the late autumn is also beautiful right on the river, the tide on the way in here causing the breaking of the small waves on the rocks
just these bare pruned sticks looked great in the pot beside the fire place, it will be winter officially here in a couple of weeks in the southern hemisphere, but if you are warm and occupied inside, how lovely !
and yes dear roly, i will be back to throw your football, one day soon !
when i come home after these trips, i miss those i love, my family and my good friends and the dogs who seem to love me !
but i am also happy to be home, no place like home, where all your toys and stuff are !
