the excitement of starting a new project is rewarded when it is finally finished. my friend Denise started this in the very first Marg Sampson George workshop i organised just over two years ago and now it is all finished and quilted. lots of firsts for Denise in all this work and she is very happy with the results, well done !
when friends gather to sew there are always lots of pretty visions and this little basket of threads fits that description so well
more visions from some MSG quilt stitching, this one is Trish's
and the saying goes 'life is just a bowl of cherries'
some ever so sweet lily of the valley thanks to Sherene !
i spent the weekend away with some friends sewing, enjoying the company and being spoilt, it's a nice change ! we went to Ballan and stayed at Millhouse, can thoroughly reccomend it ! the above quilt is one that Sandra Boyle has just completed called Summer Garden, she teaches at Amitie Textiles in Gardenvale if you are living in Melbourne. Sandra's quilts are always so pretty, this one is all liberty fabrics except for the blue background, we all just loved this
here is a closer look, just beautiful Sandra !
and another top that Sandra is working on is this combination of ocean waves block she is calling Bloomsbury, we loved this too !
and then there is this version of a log cabin, so scrappy, so lovely
this one hasn't been given an official name yet, but will be ! and the one below is called Celia's Quilt and Sandra is quilting this hexagon beautty with dmc perle 12. it is just so soft and gentle in every way
if you love these and would love to work with Sandra in a class and you live in Melbourne, Australia, then get in touch with Amitie and book in for a class !
we were all laughing about being a little bit in love with mauve lately ( have we reached the age, you know what they say about purple ) and it seemed appropiate that this lovely vase of lilac was on the sideboard
from my corner of the table it looked very pretty with all the bits and pieces of each others bags and tins etc and of course the cups of tea, must have been early in the day, as later the cups were replaced by tall elegant glasses !
at one of the local thrift shops these characters were purchased for a fan of alice in wonderland, they will go to Sydney to live
i took a large bag of all sorts of things to play with, but finished up just sticking to and finishing this quilt top except for the filling in edge pieces which i have since decided upon and cut out ready to stitch in ! its just a real mix of some mostly old florals and chintzes that i have had, it was a real change from what i have been doing and i enjoyed working with it
home i came to the first bloom on my new 'fairy magnolia', so delicate and pretty !
there are fairies in my garden !
