at the end of november i hosted another margaret sampson george workshop, please enjoy some pics from those two days
i was messing about with 'margstars'
just off the plane and on our way back from the airport, the teacher picked up this beauty at the favourite opshop while i was in the butcher buying the smoked salmon ! what a find for $15 australian dollars !
and so to catch up on some of the work the girls had been doing, and some new ones just starting this fun with fabric and shapes and marg's approach to making a quilt of our time
these two are some lozenge shapes from one of the borders of an msg quilt
the space and wonderful light available at gj's discount fabrics in fairfield in victoria, australia provided plenty of room for us all to spread
you see some people, 2 of them, bring many bags with some of there fabric collections just in case !
round the tables as i wandered to catch up with these girls, there were many pretty bags and collections
this image, now appearing in applique is from a colouring book i purchased some years ago in hobart from a lovely children's toy and bookshop. we have embroidered from the lovely images over the years (must reaquaint myself with my embroidered version) and trish is now creating the prince in applique for the centre of a quilt top.
anna had made good progress with hers, even taking it away with her on her european honeymoon
narelle had been working on hers and you could see wonderful things happening
marie's stars were really beautiful
wendy appeared to be getting ready to set sail somewhere, i love the colour choices and the mix of fabrics in this, progress will be interesting and exciting
love the combination of gorgeous bits that will become another beautiful version of 'not the levanshall'
we all attacked the shelves of the shop
then when we got home armed with everything we could find or think of, marg had to get that tapestry off the frame so she could get it into her case (we did try fitting the whole thing frame and all in)
in the end we had to get the box cutter to work, it had been framed very well, never to be removed, but little did the framer know that one day it would be the much valued new possession of margaret sampson george
then it was with cases packed 'the pear of us' headed off to sydney for more fun and workshops with the sydney girls and our dear friend jean, misslinen, the other pear in the 'the pear of us' !
in the next couple of days i'll be back to share with you some of those pics
i will be home all over the christmas and new year period, so if you are wanting to buy any of the available patterns for sale from margaret sampson george, trish harper or 'mrs sew and so' from my etsy store, the office will be attended.
