there has been some busy days and weeks lately, all fun though, playing with colour, fabric and friends !
the embroidery girls are have been busy and producing some lovely items enhanced by all the beautiful makeup done by the very clever sandra
jan is using her lovely new bag for her embroidery, the colour choices of this project were challenging for her in the beginning, but now she loves it and has loved the challenge ! and we all love it !
another jan also finished her cushion, we all get so much satisfaction from seeing all the items finished and the joy they bring makes all the sewing time with friends long the way so worthwhile
lovely fabric and trims in this cushion, and these glasses cases
one of my older friends has these made to put in her present drawer !
i have started making my 'carousel' blocks, the pattern is by sandra boyle and available in my etsy shop, and i was looking towards the background choices, went into my cupboard and found this just waiting for the ideal project and i think i have decided that they will get along well ! sandra gave her approval too !
i'm also playing with my 'flying by' from christine vlasic, love a scrappy quilt and i'm loving this ! the pattern and so many others are available from my etsy shop, the link is on my side bar ...............
then on thursday last week, along with a couple of friends, we had a lovely visit to melbourne artist greg irvine, to his home and studio to view his collections and his work ! such an interesting few hours and maree was happy with her purchases, one of them being this chair ! flowering gums in a vase ! we then enjoyed some lunch and a trip to amitie for some fabric fun
then the weekend was taken up with another margaret sampson george workshop and we were very fortunate to have offered to us a new project from marg as part of her 'take an element' collection ! this bag is big and roomy and covered in her quirky style of applique and stitching ! all those taking part in the workshop were happy to be together again to proceed with the projects they had started earlier and so much progress had been made ! lovely to see all this happening
wendy's circles are wonderful, all coming together so beautifully !
more planning and choosing of fabrics for elements, love these birds !
marie's box of fabrics was luscious
and there was fabric envy about this bit that someone had
anne's appliqued centre was beautiful, using colours way out of her comfort zone, but this is where part of the challenge is, doing something different ! and other elements chosen to add bands and borders to this are really exciting, you will have to wait till next workshop to get the update
anna, who is busy with life things, expecting her first baby being one of them, got this out of her sewing storage box and fell in love with it again and has a plan to finish it, so much beautiful detail
meghan is doing 'fly away with me' and there is a pattern available for this marg design in the etsy shop, also 'out of the blue' is available
meghan is also challenging her usual choices in fabric and colour, but so far this is looking as though she has won, stepping away from her comfort zone
deb is going well with her version of marg's 'going green gradually' ! lots of quirky little bits have been added and inserted ! here are some close ups
this is a lot of fun !
deb won a prize at the recent quilt show for a very traditional quilt, this could also be a prizewinner in the future !
barb was having trouble turning the corners with her work of art, but with marg on the lookout for a solution it was all full steam ahead and saturday night produced some extra bits sewn to the sides and now the end is in sight, though there is still some work to be done with alot of renewed interest
some of the fabrics barb has collected are treasures and a wonderful addition to her quilt with so much interest
the overall palette is soft looking, just a great mix of fabrics from everything available today
ange is starting something new, starting to collect her fabrics and cutting elements, 'take an element' is the name of marg's first book just released
what a lovely luscious collection of fabrics, some old favourites and others added
and this bag was pretty gorgeous ! belonging to maree !
and these are those well known clever hands working with amanda and playing with elements for her bag
and back to maree, who was working on a centre panel of of a quilt started some time ago, lots of lovely little surprises and bits of gorgeous fabric being played with and wonderful to be able to spread it out on the big tables in the classroom
some beautiful fabric choices and mixes as only maree can do, always a visual treat
and the teacher also keeps stitching at night, adding more 'elements' to her new quilt 'birds in paradise'
i hope you enjoy this latest feast of beautiful visions of colour, fabric and the fun we all share from working together with fabric
