So what’s been happening here in the broderie house ?
As we all know it’s almost the midddle of March, the end of summer here in the Southern Hemisphere and the delightful season of autumn is upon us. There are still plenty of warm to hot days happening though, but it is producing some beautiful time to be out and about for many
the summer flowering hydrangeas that I nursed through the very hot days are still producing some beautiful colours as they fade and I had a couple of late bloomers
All the various shades are so lovely, I’m enjoying these inside, probably my last chance till next year
two weeks ago I hosted another Margaret Sampson George workshop and it was lovely to see all the work from the girls who attend, lots of it very near finishing stage and so some new plans for new starts too which is always exciting
Sally has been having a lovely time with her broderie perse designs on her Elements Bags, here are another two in the making, just beautiful
Deb is getting near finishing her version of ‘Going Green Gradually’ which is going Frida full on ! Amazing colour and interest is this quilt below
Meghan is also onto the borders of her ‘Fly Away with Me’ version, lots of appliqué to go, but this is looking wonderful and the stitching is very very good
Anne has now completed her bowl of fruit and her bowl of flowers for her ‘Ruthie Rogers’ quilt and they are so very good, once again I can only aspire to be able to appliqué like these girls ! If it’s a straight line I’m fine, but the intricate curves of needle turn make my brain freeze over !
Narelle has nearly finished her ‘Adam and Eve’ version, it is so beautiful, the colour palette is wonderful and once again her stitching is fantastic
Love the floral borders from Anna Maria Horner and Jennifer Paginelli, both beautiful ranges and brought together here look marvellous
A few more little bits to add to fill some of ‘those spaces’ Marg always finds and it’s onto to the next project for Narelle ! I think she’s doing Ruthie too !
Amanda’s ‘Going Green Gradually’ is almost finished too, just quite a few more hexagons to get covered and sewn down to complete the borders and whoo hoo she’ll be onto something new too
and here’s the centre for ‘Mirabella’ finished also by either Anne of Narelle, not sure now who it belonged to ? And just a little story, the weekend before the workshop when Marg was also in Melbourne and had a family get together in one of lovely parks, her little 3 year old granddaughter was there and found another little friend in the park to play with and the new little friends name was, you guessed it ‘Mirabella’
Ange’s lovely version of ‘Not the Levanshall’ quilt is so pretty and coming together so beautifully. You have to love covering hexagons and Ange certainly has a few
Just look at this pile ! When in doubt of what to stitch next, cover a hexagon, you will use it somewhere, sometime, someplace
And below is Sharon’s version of her project block book using lots of MSG ‘Elements’ and some more bits from Sharon’s huge collection from all the years !
love that hare, the fabric chosen is fabulous, such movement and gives the appearance of texture
Thanks to so many of you who have ordered my patterns for ‘Dear Little Dillies’ and the second one in the series ‘Sew Simple Squares’ ! Check out my Etsy store for both those patterns and those of some friends, updated regularly
Now now take a look at this beautiful embroidery below !
We had our first Tuesday embroidery session with Gail Bett, ‘Mrs Sew & So’ and Barbara who used to come to classes when I was at ‘Bustle and Bows’ in East Malvern, came to class that we now have at home, she returned ! And she found this grand Camel in her cupboard unfinished, a few more stitches here and there and this exquisite work is now completed. Such beautiful stitching, take a bow Barb
Easter is fast approaching, see you then with some more notes and photos from my days, that so quickly turn to weeks and you know how it happens, time flies, but we are all so lucky to ‘be interested’ in our activities !
