We are all living through such strange times, so much sadness in the loss of lives around the world in all countries, but we also have so many wonderful people working in the hospitals and in other associated areas of the medical profession to aid and assist us during this time of Covid-19
those of us who are isolating have time ‘to just be’ in our homes, we are filling our days with doing the things about our homes inside and out, spending time doing the things we love, our sewing, creating, cooking etc ! It’s a bit like when life was simpler, when people didn’t rush around, we had time for one another, to think, to plan and to talk to to people, friends, and to care
time to just be
easter has been and gone and I’m sure for many it was a different time this year without family gatherings and get togethers, but I hope you were like me and received some very unexpected treats including a lovely roast dinner delivered to my front door on Easter Sunday! Such a lovely gesture from a dear friend !
some special little eggs and a lovely lavender sachet
and these lovely pink stocks which lasted beautifully for a week in the vase giving me lots of joy
time in the garden to just observe what’s taking place out there
my little narrow strip at the back is only small and mostly growing in pots, it’s an eclectic mix of bits friends have given me or cuttings I have received and my green as green fake grass covering the dust bowl that was there when I moved in to this home 7 years ago is easier for this old lame duck to stagger on when I’m out there
I love succulents and have many lovely examples, they are showy and interesting in all their lovely forms and this newer one is starting to really take off and the camellia below is covered with buds getting ready to bloom
and I’ve been sewing, always sewing something or playing with fabric, whether it be mine or others, cutting kits, basting quilts
these blocks are part of Bloom Hill pattern by Brigette Giblin that I started just recently, very large blocks, only 9 of them make the quilt and I’m using some of my large floral special fabrics collected over the years, the piece below I purchased in Portugal many years ago, most of them are chintzes which I love
I’ve cut some Dot a Day kits, a fun easy pattern from Marg Sampson-George and also basted a lovely one for a friend made with fabrics she bought in Japan last year and also adding some more bits to Mrs Peach and basting Mirabella for a friend
above Mrs Peach - fussy cutting some new echinacea florals and below is Mirabella
below is some Dot a Day kits cut
and below is a view again of Mirabella ! These pics loaded all over the place so please excuse the mixed lot of photos
below is Dot a Day with the lovely Japanese fabrics used and it is a great example of just letting the fabric do it’s thing, love this, Anna is now quilting it in red perle 8
And below is another bit different colour in a piece of Mrs Peach
Just to finish off today some pics of little corners in my home, collections, stuff, we all have plenty, but they are part of who we are
very sad news today of someone loved by so many both in her home country and internationally who has left her mark on this world in so many ways and people’s lives
to her family and friends I send my special thoughts
rest in beautiful peace Di Ford Hall
you have left a little part of you in many people’s hearts
