I was amazed that when I looked that it was the middle of April that I did the last post, I think that during this strange time that we are living in the time is going so fast ! I seem as though I’m always opening and closing the blinds !!! I have lots of pictures to share, so let’s get started
thanks again to all of you who have sent email messages saying that you were enjoying my entry back into blogging, some lovely messages from all over the world, I read each one and try to send you all an answer, but I know last time I missed a few and I’m sorry
three quilt tops that I have finished this year are in the following photos
this one is a Brigette Giblin pattern called Bloom Hill, available from her website, the pieces are large and it’s a great make using lots of special florals that yiu have maybe collected over the years ! I handpieced mine and as I said it comes together very quickly
the tulip fabric below, I purchased in a Portugal in 1986
and just during this week I finished handpiecing my version of Mrs Peach a pattern of Marg Sampson-George and this pattern is available in my Etsy shop
such fun to make, I really enjoyed the play with all the fabrics
and the one below is a new pattern that I have created and called it Flower Bed
I used larger floral prints in the middle hexagons and smaller floral prints for the diagonally opposite pentagon shapes and a variety of geometric prints for the linking rectangles, there are so many different things to do with this pattern, my mind sees different possibilities every time I look at it ..............
out in the garden the colour has been mostly shades of mauve, but I love it as it seems to glow in the autumn light
all easy to grow sage and Mona lavender, but so lovely
one of my friends has been enjoying doing this embroidery during this covid19 era, this was some meterage of upholstery weight linen that one if the girls found in her cupboard, nobody wanted to embroider the meterage, so I divided it all up and we all took a section ......... ah I haven’t started mine yet !
and I found these pics of a bag I made for a Kris Kringle some years ago and thought maybe I would make some more
and another friend sent some pics of some finishes of hers during these times, the first one is Barb’s completed quilt of a experiment I did some years ago, choosing and cutting fabrics from my own vast collection and suppling blocks ready to just handpiece. It was fun but grew so big that it was quite a task in the end, though very enjoyable, I based the colours I chose from just observing over many years what all the girls usually preferred in their choices whether it be embroidery or fabric
Barb also ordered a Dot a Day kit from me and had made this up for a grandchild who lives in the US
some more pretty camellia blooms from the garden
and to finish off today a pic of my first block from a new quilt I’m starting, it’s a new Marg Sampson-George pattern called Marguerite
I'm a handpiecer and sometimes when I finish a quilt and put the last few stitches in I wonder to myself how many meters or even kilometres of thread I’ve used in my stitching life ............. yes I wonder
look forward to hearing from you
