the clock keeps ticking .........

one week of july has gone already, I'm sure the clocks of the world are all running fast !

decisions to be made about the next border fabric

and there are some others, border fabrics that is !

a bag full of hexagon shapes and borders and frames now ready for placement on my applique quilt in the making

these projects are all the inspiration of Marg Sampson George or MSG who is flavouring our stitching at the moment, looking forward to another weekend next week of Marg and Jean staying and the workshop on saturday and sunday. lots to organise, lots of excited people and lots of fun to be had

the spotted linen came from the lovely range of linens at 'amitie' in gardenvale

 

all the saturday sewing girls just keep producing lovely pieces with our friend and tutor gail bett, always full of inspiration 

more inspiration, another dancing girl cushion designed by trish harper, will be available as a pattern soon. dressed here in her pretty liberty dancing dress, this one belongs to one of  edwina's granddaughters !

and a pretty spring wreath of flowers embroidered by trish, decisions, decisions now how this will be used

so ! dusting to be done, beds to be made for the visitors, shopping and cooking to organise, but at the end there will be a few days of more sewing and the feeling of contentment that all the plans have worked and everyone goes home happy

so many things are circular, round, patterns in embroidery and patchwork are based on the circle, everywhere things are round

there are some out there who think i'm very strange always putting fresh water in the jug ! but i do make a good cup of tea and i'm happy with being strange !

the last two copies of quiltmania magazine have had patterns from Marg Sampson George in them along with some other australian quilters

so those of you who have loved this quilt can now make it, all the instructions are in the magazine !

and back to things round, marion's embroidered lampshade came back after being made up, and here it is with the light on

embroidered onto fine silk, it looks lovely, well done marion !

and the circle of dancing dollies (this pattern by trish harper is also available to purchase) i put some binding on this and two other quilts this morning for two friends, so barb, you know they are done !

snippets from 'the shoebox'

i made a visit to the 'shoebox' last week, that is the name that trish harper always gives her home and it is well organised to fit so much into a small space ! and all so tidy too ! it was a lovely sunny day and the birds were singing and the skies blue !

trish has been a prolific quilt designer and maker and embroiderer and general textile artist most of her life, like all of us she has a fabric cupboard, a collection of threads and ribbons and beads etc., and a dog called billy ! 'camelot' and 'dancing dollies' are two of her patterns you have seen here, but there are more to come !

bill spends alot of his time watching the world from the top of the couch

trish thinks that alot of her choice of colour and pattern for her work is a result of the years she spent living in asia

even the mug has circles on it ! so in this small space, there is alot of production goes on and everything fits in well together and yes it is just the size of a 'shoebox', there is no dedicated sewing room in this comfy and inspiring home !

spring signs

today was such a lovely sunny, almost spring day here in melbourne, so nice to see and feel.

these little violets from my garden, you could smell the perfume in the air when i was outside this morning, so i picked a few !

 and i have been playing with these big bloom fabrics

playing with the colours, spring must be on my mind

and thanks for your reaction to 'dancing dollies', many of you can expect them in the post in the next few days
